Mayor's Free School Meal Scheme

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please see attached letter from Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, regarding Mayor's Free School Meal Scheme.

Whilst all our children receive Free School Meals through Government schemes, we would like to use this opportunity to reiterate that you still apply/register for the Free School Meal by clicking this link:

https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals

Even though your child will continue receiving free school meals automatically, it remains vitally important to register for the Government’s free school meals if you meet the criteria. This will ensure you receive other benefits you may be entitled to, like vouchers during the holidays. It could also bring the school an extra funding per child. That is more money for extra-curricular activities, teacher development, and support for children who need it most.

Who’s eligible for Free School Meals/ Pupil Premium?

Your child might qualify if your family gets any of the following benefits:

  • Income Support

  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance

  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit

  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190

  • Working Tax Credit run-on

  • Universal Credit, provided you have an annual net earned income not exceeding £7,400 (£616.67 per month)

What’s the difference between Free School Meals, UIFSM and UFSM?

Right now, all pupils attending primary school in London are entitled to a free school meal thanks to various government funding schemes, but Pupil Premium funding is still separate! Register anyway, because we’ll receive the funding to support our students, regardless of whether your child eats the meal.

The regsitration process is very simple but goes a long way in helping the school.

Thank you for your support,

Kind regards
